Nothing worked here. I've been facing this issue for a long time. Tried everything. Microsoft support even accessed my pc remotely and saw the error and was not able to solve it. Can't suscribe to a Game Pass.

    Hello raser Rankin,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

I understand that you are having issue with region change. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.

Based on your description and capture above, it seems like an adult account is permanently stuck as a child account and blocks region changes, even after leaving the family group and correcting DOB. Here is my usggetsion for you in this case:

SOLUTION 1: Force-remove Family Safety lock from the device

It has been confirmed that Family Safety can remain enforced locally even after leaving the family group.

    1. Press Windows + R
    2. Type cmd
    3. Select OK
    4. Copy and run this command exactly: schtasks /run /tn "Microsoft\Windows\Shell\FamilySafetyRefreshTask"
    5. Restart the computer

This must be done on every affected device. For more details, please check here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/family-safety-settings-enforced-on-adults-9051e939-ad68-44c3-97f8-318e2935c93e

SOLUTION 2: Verify you are truly NOT in any Family group

Even hidden or old family links can keep the account flagged.

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/family
    2. Sign in
    3. Confirm no family members are listed
    4. If anyone is listed > remove yourself, not just leave

If any family appears, the account is still classified as child controlled.

SOLUTION 3: Re‑grant consent to yourself

If it had ever been classified the account as a child, DOB edits alone do NOT remove the flag.

    1. Go to https://login.live.com/
    2. Select I’m a parent or guardian
    3. Sign in using:
      • another adult Microsoft account OR create a temporary adult account (18+)
      • Approve consent (Yes, I agree)
    4. Go to http://account.live.com/mykids.aspx
    5. Select your account > Edit child’s personal info
    6. Save changes

This is required when an adult account is “mis‑aged” internally.

I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.

    Best Regards,
