Adding Claude AI Add-ins to Microsoft 365 Family

I have tried several ways to install the Claude AI Add-ins for Microsoft 365 Family. Given everything you've tried, I don't think this is a problem with your Mac, browser, or Microsoft account settings.

From your screenshot:

  • The AppSource form loads correctly.
  • The country list opens correctly.
  • "United States" is present in the dropdown.
  • Selecting it does not populate the field.

And you've already ruled out:

  • Safari
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Private/incognito mode
  • Incorrect account region

Since you're using a Microsoft 365 Personal account, my best assessment is that this is either:

  1. A bug in the Claude for Microsoft 365 AppSource registration form, or
  2. The add-in is not currently accepting Microsoft 365 Personal accounts even though the form is being displayed.

One thing I would check is whether Claude's Microsoft 365 integration is intended for personal subscriptions or for business/enterprise Microsoft 365 tenants. The AppSource installation process for Outlook and Microsoft 365 add-ins runs through AppSource. Each support group points the finger the other way. I'm frustrated and need your help. I'm also an Adjunct Professor and teach AI so I need the functionality. Here is the screenshot User's image

    Hi, Mark Garman

This does not appear to be a Microsoft 365 Family limitation. Claude’s Office add-ins support individual users on paid Claude plans, and the screenshot shows the AppSource details form failing before installation. This is different from the Microsoft 365 connector, which requires a business account.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint on the Mac, then select Tools > Add-ins and search for Claude for Microsoft 365. Installing from inside Office may bypass the broken country form.

Alternatively, use the Claude Office installation page and select Open in Word Online, Excel Online, or PowerPoint Online. After installation, reopen the desktop app and check Tools > Add-ins.

Sign out of any work or school account in Office and AppSource, then sign in only with the personal Microsoft account that owns the Family subscription. It is recommended that this be checked because mixed account sessions can prevent add-ins from registering correctly.

Confirm that the Claude account is Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise.

If the country field still refuses the selection, send the screenshot to Anthropic support as an AppSource installation-form defect, rather than repeating Mac or browser troubleshooting.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
