I purchased the "basic" subscription plan and then upgraded to the "personal" subscription plan when I realized excel was not supported with the basic. How do I get a refund for the purchase of the basic plan?

    Hi,

Usually, if you cancel your Microsoft 365 Basic subscription before upgrading to Microsoft 365 Personal on the same day, the remaining value of your Basic subscription is typically applied as a credit toward the Personal subscription, so you may not need a separate refund.

If you were charged for both subscriptions separately, the refund is typically processed within 3–5 business days after the cancellation date.

If it has been more than 5 business days and you still haven't received your refund, and you believe you're eligible for one, I recommend contacting Microsoft Billing Support directly:

    Click this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/

Sign in to your Microsoft account.

Select Microsoft 365 > Click 'Get home support'.

Type "Chat with an agent" from the text field and press Enter.

Click "Contact support" at the bottom.

Select the product you need help with.

Follow the prompts to connect with a live agent or request a call back.
